College Tote Bags
When many think of college bags, they think of backpacks and laptop backpacks. However, if you’re looking for a stylish alternative to carry your books, laptop, and other necessities, consider the college tote bag.
College totes are in most cases a more fashionable option for campus. They are available in a wider range of colors, materials, and patterns and are made by both school brands like JanSport and fashion brands like LeSportsac.
College tote bags also offer more versatility than other college bags because there are fewer compartments. You can pack just about anything in a tote from books to clothes often with room to spare. They are also more versatile in the fact that they can be used as handbags when they aren’t being used for school.

M. Andonia Hawaiian Tote
It might be cool in many areas of the country, but we all know that spring is coming. Now is when thoughts of vacations, getaways, and Spring Break are starting to come to many people’s minds.
When I think of spring, I think of flowers and travel – mostly warm, tropical vacations. And what’s more tropical and flowery than Hawaii? Hawaii makes a great spring getaway for anyone – students, young couples, and families alike.
Of course, when you travel to Hawaii, you should look the part. You don’t want to carry a bag that looks more at home on the streets of New York than a palm tree lined promenade. The M. Andonia Hawaiian Tote is the perfect bag (and not just because it has Hawaii in the name). This tote features a Hawaiian flower design on the side with a lovely orange trim. It’s perfect for taking you from beach to town to evening. Stash the matching M. Andonia Ivory Hawaiian Wristlet inside this tote as a stylish cosmetic bag or wallet.
Of course you don’t have to be in Hawaii to carry this bag. It’s perfect for spring no matter where in the country you are.
Find the M. Andonia Hawaiian Tote at eBags for $279 and the M. Andonia Ivory Hawaiian Wristlet for $78.
Jessica Kagan Cushman Message Totes
A handbag always says something about you, but sometimes it does so literally. Such is the case with message totes from Jessica Kagan Cushman. JKC Cotton Canvas Totes are basic totes with cute messages printed on the side like “My other bag is a Louis Vuitton” and “This bag makes me look Rich and Skinny”. I think the bag I’ve featured here has a particularly funny message, “I had the most terrible dream. I dreamed I was a plastic bag.”
But just because the messages on these bags are cute doesn’t mean you necessarily want to carry the tote or pay $45 to $70 for one. Would you rather carry a tote that says you own an LV bag or carry an LV bag? Or would you rather take the money you would spend on one of these totes and buy a trendy but inexpensive bag from a brand like Big Buddha, Kathy Van Zeeland, or Jessica Simpson?
These bags remind me of those bumper stickers you see where someone says their other car is a Porsche or Corvette or some other exotic sports car. And I’m not sure what to make of that. Does the person really own that car? Probably not. But they want you to believe they do. What does THAT say about the owner of the bumper sticker? What would one of these bags say about you?
What do you think? Am I totally off-base here? Would you carry one of these bags? Vote below and post your comments.
AK Anne Klein Perfect Tote
AK Anne Klein handbags are truly lovely. Clean lines, classic shapes, bold colors, and designer materials make these stylish bags. The AK Anne Klein Perfect Tote is no exception.
But what we’d like to ask you is if you agree that it is, like its name suggests, the perfect tote. It’s simple yet elegant which means its perfect for day and night use. It’s made from soft leather and the only embellishments are the square AK lion head logo plate and zippered exterior pocket. It also seems like it’s the perfect size – not too large or too small. It’s large enough for day to day items – maybe even a small laptop – but it’s not so large that it would be mistaken for a beach bag.
But don’t just listen to me. Tell us what you think of this bag. For more details on the AK Anne Klein Perfect Tote, see it at eBags.
Ed Hardy Wild Fleur Daisy Tab Tote
Ed Hardy offers a wild twist on the floral handbag with the Wild Fleur Daisy Tab Tote which combines a flower tattoo design with animal print accents. But what else would expect from this tattoo-sporting brand? Something classic and tame? I think not.
The Daisy Tab Tote is an irreverent tribute to spring which makes it the perfect handbag this season for the not-so-girly girl – maybe even the rocker chick. The pastel colors and animal print are on trend and by combining them, Ed Hardy has created a real head-turner.
Find the Ed Hardy Wild Fleur Daisy Tab Tote at eBags for $160.00.
Global Elements Coconut Fiber Tote
The Global Elements Coconut Fiber Tote is an eco-friendly handbag. It’s made from recycled coconut fiber with a PVC trim and handle and a buckle.
What I love about the material is that it makes a great conversation piece. Coconut fiber is certainly more unusual than your average leather or faux-leather bag. Coconut fiber is also a natural fiber that’s a great alternative to straw if you’re not a fan of straw bags.
This tote features more organization than your typical tote bag. There are several pockets including an inside zipper pocket, inside cell phone pocket, and inside open pocket.
Find this Global Elements bag at eBags.com on sale for $49.99 for a limited time.

Ring in Spring With Lesportsac’s Everygirl Tote
We’ve got a light dusting of snow on the ground where we are, however we’ve got spring on the brain. We’re starting to see the spring/summer 2010 collections come in and many designer bags are absolutely gorgeous.
We’re also starting to see spring bags from more affordable brands – particularly bags that feature spring colors or spring images like flowers. One bag that falls in this category is the LeSportsac Everygirl Tote. It’s the perfect tote for everyday and includes everything you’d expect from a tote – plus double handles and top zip.
The LeSportsac Everygirl Tote is available in 3 prints – the brightly colored Reverie, the cheery Vaudeville, and my favorite Primrose featuring butterflies.
Like these prints but need something smaller or larger? LeSportsac also makes a Small Everygirl Tote and a Deluxe Everygirl Tote (large) in the same prints.
The LeSportsac Everygirl Tote is available at eBags for $78.00.
Tote Bags That Are All Treat (and no Trick)
Ok, so that title might be completely cheesy, but these totes aren’t. In fact, these tote bags are truly H.O.T.. That’s because they feature some of the latest trends including exotic prints and materials, hardware, and classic fall colors.
Tote bags traditionally are large, double handled bags with open tops and open main compartments. But today’s totes take that definition to a new level. From additional pockets to zip-top and cinch closures, tote bags are not your average canvas bag anymore.

Stop Staring At My Tote
Have you ever had the feeling that your bag is being watched? Maybe you’re out shopping and you catch someone admiring your new satchel. Or perhaps you’re out at a party and the guest next to you can’t resist staring at your evening bag. Well, here’s a bag that goes above and beyond to create that feeling.
Introducing the Stop Staring At My Tote tote from The Onion Store. Simple, straightforward, and to the point. It’s a no frills way to get your message across – albeit tongue-in-cheek.
The tote is available in black and neutral and, at $7.50, it’s more than affordable.
Now, while this tote orders people to stop staring, I bet you’ll get more people staring at this bag than all of your other handbags combined. But who doesn’t like a little attention now and then?
The Tote That Won’t Eat Your Keys or Your Wallet
So, let me fess up. I’ve had my fair share of disasters with tote bags. They’re huge, they always beg you to carry more than you can handle, and they usually end up eating half of the stuff you put in them–especially when you’re ready to grab your wallet at the cash register. After several occurrences of trying to figure out which black hole in the depths of my tote bag had decided to devour my wallet or my keys, I strayed away from tote bags. Quite literally, I avoided them like the plague.
That is, until I discovered OGIO’s reconfiguration of what it meant to carry a tote. And despite all of the tote’s eccentricities, its efficiency, and its style, they simply call it the OGIO Tote Bag.
The bag is built capable of accommodating you on a stroll through campus, urban streets, or a short day-trip. In short, the bag is built for organization. But I will tell you this, it is not under-handed when it comes to size. OGIO designed its tote to carry your laptop (up to 15″) a sleeve and other miscellaneous items in its large main compartment. This is where its similarity to regular tote bags ends.
Nestled on the totes laptop sleeve are several compartments. Of course, there are slots for your pens, built where they are easily accessible. Then there’s the “no-boys-allowed”, the jewelry pocket, and the make-up pocket. All zippered of course. Not to mention the out-of-the-way water bottle pocket located on the inside of the bag–one of my personal favorites. Plus, the bag’s arsenal includes two mail and receipt filing pockets on the outside.
And did I mention that the exterior and interior materials are amazing?
After toting OGIO’s “edited” version of the tote bag, I was finally released from my phobia of non-existent black holes and vicious, hungry tote bags. If you’re looking for an unconventional tote bag that won’t make you feel like you’re pulling raffles out of a mystery box, then the OGIO Tote bag is definitely something worth trying out.
