Cheetah Print Handbags
While we’ve focused on exotic bags like snake and croc (and their more affordable faux counterparts), one trend we haven’t talked about lately is animal prints. Animal prints, particularly cheetah print handbags, have been popping up in recent collections including Michael Kors.
Case in point, take a look at the MICHAEL Michael Kors McLane Cheetah Large Tote. What’s not to like about it. It’s eye-popping. It’s got a great shape with the drawstring top. And the leather trim breaks up the cheetah print in a nice way.
For a cheetah print bag that’s a little more subtle, check out the Elaine Turner Carolena Cheetah Patent bag. Again, it’s got a great shape (but I’m a sucker for satchels – especially framed satches). This bag is made from 100% genuine leather and comes with the signature Elaine Turner pink crown lining.
Lockheart Belinda
One bag that has definitely made my wishlist is the Lockheart Belinda. It’s distinctly feminine yet sophisticated and perfect for everything from jeans to business casual.
The Belinda features pieced leather and gold metal accents beautifully arranged in a design reminiscent of a flower or an ornate necklace. There is a hidden pocket under the flap where you can easily stash your keys and phone (which is perfect for me since I have a habit of losing my keys and phone in my bag).
It’s available in two colors – the darker brown pictured here and a lighter, more tan color. For more information, see the Lockheart site.
Rebecca Minkoff Linear Stud Darling
They say hardware is in, but this bag takes the trend to a whole new level. The Rebecca Minkoff Linear Stud Darling is literally covered in stud detailing. As gaudy as that might sound, though, I think it’s actually gorgeous. It’s not like the studs are haphazardly sprinkled all over the bag. They’re arranged in rows of alternating styles (circle, square, smaller circle) which lends the bag a distinctively sophisticated sense of bling.
Combine that with the beautiful italian leather and lovely interior lining and you’ve got a true “darling” of a bag.
You can pick up the Rebecca Minkoff Linear Stud Darling at eBags.com.
Ring in Spring With Lesportsac’s Everygirl Tote
We’ve got a light dusting of snow on the ground where we are, however we’ve got spring on the brain. We’re starting to see the spring/summer 2010 collections come in and many designer bags are absolutely gorgeous.
We’re also starting to see spring bags from more affordable brands – particularly bags that feature spring colors or spring images like flowers. One bag that falls in this category is the LeSportsac Everygirl Tote. It’s the perfect tote for everyday and includes everything you’d expect from a tote – plus double handles and top zip.
The LeSportsac Everygirl Tote is available in 3 prints – the brightly colored Reverie, the cheery Vaudeville, and my favorite Primrose featuring butterflies.
Like these prints but need something smaller or larger? LeSportsac also makes a Small Everygirl Tote and a Deluxe Everygirl Tote (large) in the same prints.
The LeSportsac Everygirl Tote is available at eBags for $78.00.
Be & D ‘Woodstock’ Studded Belt Hobo
The Be & D ‘Woodstock’ Studded Belt Hobo quite possibly could be the perfect handbag for spring. Why? Because it’s spot-on with upcoming trends.
Bag Bliss recently reviewed this bag and you can read the full article here. What makes this the perfect spring bag is the fact that it combines 3 trends in one – hardware (studs), boho-chic (the slouchy hobo), and light color (light colors are always spring).
You can snag this bag at Nordstrom.com for $995.00 and while that price might seem steep, consider that this bag can be carried throughout spring and summer. It’s a style investment that’ll last you throughout the season and beyond. Plus it goes with just about everything from designer jeans to dressier outfits.
What Handbag Should Marge Simpson Carry?
Have you ever noticed that Marge Simpson doesn’t usually carry a handbag? She’s got the blue hair, green dress, and red necklace and shoes, but no handbag to complete her ensemble. Just for fun, we thought we’d offer some suggestions. Vote on your favorite below. |

Judith Leiber Rose
I love Judith Leiber. Her bags are so gorgeous that they have been displayed as works of art in museums. If you haven’t seen Judith Leiber handbags including the Novelty minaudieres, see them here: www.judithleiber.com.
The Judith Leiber Rose is certainly among my favorites and is one minaudiere I would L-O-V-E to carry this Valentine’s Day. It’s a jewel-encrusted rose-shaped bag with sculpted petals and leaf detailing. It includes a 19″ chain for easy carrying. It’s available for $3,575 at judithleiber.com.
Neon Handbags
“The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!” – Coco Chanel
Neon. It’s not usually what comes to mind when you think of handbags. Yet, neon handbags are making their way into spring collections.
Heather Hawkins, for instance, has several clutches and convertible handbags in bright, neon colors like neon green, neon pink, and neon yellow. The neon green Heather Hawkins San Tropez is my absolute favorite from the new collection. Chinese Laundry also has several bags right now in bright colors including the Piped Tote in bright pink. The colors are so bright you’ll think you stepped back into the 80s. All you need are legwarmers and a headband.
For neon handbags from designer labels, be sure to check out the L.A.M.B Ultraviolet Rhodes Lambskin Satchel. Available at Bloomingdales for under $300 now. Or for a cute overnighter, take a look at the Isaac Mizrahi Medium Dayglo Duffel Bag with Duster. I love the day-go pink color – makes me think of neopolitan ice cream.

Hot Handbags For Spring 2010
Want to know the hot handbags for spring 2010? Keep reading…
It may only be January, but it’s time to talk spring handbag trends. Stores are having massive sales to clear room for the new spring handbag collections that are arriving as I write this. So here is a peek at spring handbag trends from eBags’ handbags experts.
Bohemian: Boho style is making a comeback. Think fringe handbags, tie-dye bags, ethnic touches, tassels, slouchy hobos, and beading embellishment.
Cross-Body Bags: These never went out of style but now look for cross-body handbags with chain straps and smaller (mini) cross-body’s.
Hardware: Still in. A carry-over from fall, look for bags with studs, grommets, and exposed zippers.
Color: Spring handbag colors include your typical bright colors and pastels, but also look for neon colors and jewel-toned hues (purples, blues, and greens).
Texture: Bags with great textures are all the rage. Braided handles, woven leather, rouching detail, and pleating accents are just some of the handbag trends for the season.
A couple of other things to watch for in handbags for spring: raffia weave, small bags with long straps, and medium sized clutches.
